the body. We use these methods in our Kickboxing, Mixed martial Arts and stick fighting classes. These will help you feel more relaxed and generally more nimble. You will feel better wearing those jeans after this exercise regime.

The fourth method is our martial arts techniques. All the courses we have teach techniques that also develop certain muscle groups both in the upper and lower portions of the body. For example you will Kick that bum into shape in our kickboxing and mixed martial arts classes.

OK...so the title says 4.5? What is the 5? Unlike most traditional martial arts schools I like to teach to the backing of some music. This motivates you and gives the added bonus of developing your body rhythmically as well as physically. It adds a bit of fun to the workout!

Over the last few months I have been inundated with emails. Many have been questions regarding fitness through martial arts practice. Can I drop a jean size? Will starting a martial art help me to relieve stress? I would like to get fitter but I don’t know if martial arts is for me….        In answer to these questions I have come up with approximately 4.5 ways that the practice of martial arts can not only get you fitter but improve your figure too.

The first way is by joining our kickboxing classes we do exercise routines based on developing core strength. Sometimes we use core balls, other times we use more traditional methods of sit ups and crunches. This sort of exercise will flatten that tummy and have you down a jean size

in a jiffy.

The second method our club has to offer is our fat burning cardiovascular workouts. We do a lot of these in both our kickboxing and mixed martial arts classes. We use aerobic exercise which is guaranteed to get your heart pumping and generally raise your metabolism which results in burning off un needed body fat.

The third method we have is plyometric workouts incorporating stretching for both the upper and lower quadrants of

February the 25th was a day that is sure to go down in the clubs history. We had three very special guests who came all the way from Catterick to sunny Huddersfield. The Millward family. Kimberley shares the same Birthday as my good self and as a surprise her parents brought her to our club for the evening. For those of

you that were unable to make the night I will give you a quick insight into what happened.

1. We ate CAKE between every lesson...or at least I did.

2. The end of the kickboxing class saw the time of the dreaded Birthday beats. Or is it

2. payback for all the hard workouts I give you guys? I am still undecided.

3. Then we had the Arnis class to which young Kimberley dragged me all around the room.
